THE CONCEPT OF
"ARTE DA COLLEZIONARE PER LA VITA" IN ITS SPECIFICITY
Cassella is now dealing with a new idea, a wide range
dream. He would like to create a sort of club, the "club dei mille" joined by
those who have followed his work for years and are going to do the same in the future.
Those participating should be willing to "collect art for their life". This is a
clear quotation, although it might be plurally interpreted. It is worth remembering that
part of the profit will be assigned to charity. The project of the club, which can be
dropped at any time, is a numbered limited edition of authenticated small bronzes, each
year a different model, which can be collected and handed down to the following
generations, a sort of complete personal parable. How would this affect CasselIa's life?
He would this way be able to pour himself completely into his artistic activity and study,
he is already dedicating to as average sculptor. He has some maquette of ambitious
projects, that are waiting to be brought to life and many terracotta prototypes that would
suit the annual production of the project concerting "art to be collected for
life".
In 1998 Roberto Cassella created a sculpture, a "polyform mask"
moulded in terracotta. Thereafter he realized some multiples in bronzed pewter, in order
to start "Arte da collezionare per la vita". The small sculpture for the year
one thousand nine hundred ninetynine is called "the beginning" and is
accompained by a box coated with paper leatherette and has a guarantee certificate
authenticated by the artist. The guarantee certificate will be numbered according to the
progression of our supporters. For example: the first subscriber will receive the
sculpture with its guarantee certificate numbered 001/999; the second will receive
#002/999 and so on up to #999/999. We will accept adhesions up to the close number of nine
hundred ninety-nine. Every year we will supply information about Mr. Cassella and his
collection, therefore it will be possible for the "friends" who have subscribed,
to get to know Roberto Cassella as an artist as well as a man.
Roberto Cassella created new objects in clay; what
will the new sculpture for the year two thousand be? You will
aknowledge all information concerning this collection, by adhering
to this new and unique "Arte da collezionare
per la vita".
